Applications Open for September 2027 Intake – Trainee Solicitor Programme
Ho Tse Wai & Partners is now accepting applications for our Trainee Solicitor Programme commencing in August/September 2027.We are looking for candidates who want to build a strong foundation in litigation practice, specifically those who are keen to look beyond daily tasks to understand the strategy and reasoning behind it.
About the Programme
Our trainees work closely with solicitors at different levels of the firm, gaining hands-on exposure to a wide variety of matters across different practice areas.
Depending on the work of the firm at the relevant time, trainees may be actively involved in civil and criminal litigation, public and administrative law, judicial review, regulatory matters, and other contentious and advisory work.
We believe that good training comes from genuine involvement. Under appropriate supervision, trainees will therefore be encouraged to take an active role in matters throughout different stages of the legal procedure, from legal research and case preparation to client conferences, court proceedings and other aspects of the conduct of a matter.
Our goal is to equip our trainees with the judgment, discipline, practical skills and confidence required for a capable solicitor.
Who We Are Looking For
Strong academics are essential, but we look beyond grades for well-rounded candidates.
We are particularly interested in candidates who:
- have a genuine interest in litigation, advocacy, public law, or the resolution of difficult legal and factual issues;
- are proactive, responsible and prepared to take ownership of their work;
- have strong analytical and legal research skills;
- pay close attention to detail while keeping sight of the wider purpose of a task;
- are team players who communicate clearly and work seamlessly with colleagues and clients;
- are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities may shift quickly;
- demonstrate excellent written and spoken English and Chinese, with proficiency in Mandarin being an advantage; and
- demonstrate professionalism, good judgment and a genuine willingness to learn.
We do not expect trainees to know everything from the outset. We do, however, value those who are curious, ask thoughtful questions, respond positively to feedback and continuously strive to learn and improve.
Who Can Apply
Applications are welcome from students and graduates who will be eligible to commence a Hong Kong trainee solicitor contract in August/ September 2027.
