Mr. John Clancey 關尚義律師
John was admitted to practice as a solicitor in Hong Kong in 1997.
He has been working as a solicitor with Ho Tse Wai & Partners since his admission.
John has handled a large number of Medical Negligence and Personal Injury cases. He was ranked by Chambers and Partners Greater China Region Guide as a Band 2 lawyer in the area of Clinical Negligence (International Firms) in both 2024 and 2025. He also appears as an advocate in coroner’s inquests. John acted for two of the Plaintiffs in the application which resulted in the judgment by Mr. Justice Bharwaney to change the discount rate. He also acts for applicants in Basic Law related Judicial Review cases.
John is a mediator and has acted as a mediator in more than 10 medical negligence and personal injury mediations.
John has provided pro bono services to individuals, organizations, groups during his legal practice.
John is a legal adviser to the Hong Kong Workers’ Health Centre and the Hong Kong Stroke Society. He is a member of the Hospital Board and Hospital Governing Committee of Our Lady of Maryknoll Hospital.
He enjoys reading and writing; photography; gardening; cooking and when he can find time: hiking, football and basketball.
